To me a great song is one that tells the truth, connects with people on a deep emotional level and makes them want to add it to their own playlist
Great songs come from a lot of small, good decisions.
These are the four things I focus on in every song I produce.
1. The song works when it is stripped down to its essence.

This is what makes your song stick at gigs, in people’s heads.
If it’s missing:
No level of production will save it.
2. The arrangement keeps people listening.
It builds, evolves, and follows the emotion.
Why you should care:
This is what keeps people listening to the end and hitting replay, and increases the chance of placement (radio, playlists, sync).
If it’s missing:
People lose interest halfway through.
They skip… even if the idea was good.
Less listening → less reach → slower growth.
3. Performance that people believe
This doesn't mean perfection, vocal gymnastics, virtuous playing, this means playing and singing with feel, emotion, groove, honesty and in a way that serves the song.

This is what makes people connect deeply with your music and stay engaged.
